Meet Romo

Romo is our five month old lab/border collie mix. I could no longer stand not having a dog in my life so after many set backs and many searches for the perfect puppy I found him. Romo was born November 7, 2009 and we brought him home on January 25, 2010. Romo's mom, who was pregnant and living under a truck was rescued from downtown Houston along with the father who surprisingly would not leave her side. He was born at a foster home and we were lucky enough to find him online through the animal rescue group pup squad (pupsquad.org). The night we brought this little guy home it was love at first sight. We met up with him at Petsmart and knew he would be coming home with us. That first night we he was dirty and terrified, we gave him a bath and he spent the entire night sitting under the kitchen table whining. Those first couple of days he wouldn't eat or drink and the first week or so he was startled at every little noise and movement, I can't tell you how many emails were exchanged between me, my mom, and Auntie Sandy making sure I was doing everything right because I was so scared for him. And now we can't believe how much he has grown. Sometimes we forget how little he once was but we look back at the little fluff ball we brought home and are amazed at the perfect little guy he has grown into. He is now 34lbs and is the center of attention in this house. He is no longer afraid of anything, has found his fantastic little bark and loves patrolling the house for us and making laps around the house.

Here are a few of our favorite pictures of our little guy, we have way too many to post, we just can't stop taking pictures, he's so cute! Look at how much he has grown over the months!

These first two are from the night we brought him home - January 25, 2010:

We're Painting The Roses Red...

Or the walls tan...

We decided we wanted to add a little splash of color to the guest bedroom. So one Friday night (the same Friday night Marc decided it was a good time to tear up the entire backyard) we picked out a sandy color to match the palm trees in the guest bathroom and we painted the room. Now like all other house projects we have so far attempted it was much harder and took much longer than anticipated, but after a few long days and nights we are happy with the results and feel the guest bedroom is much more cozy. So to those of you who have been to visit, come back, we think you'll like the change, and to those of you who haven't been here yet come stay in our newly decorated and very comfortable guest bedroom :) We love having guests here!

We hope to add a few more splashes of color to the house including making the guest bathroom the same color as the guest bedroom and an accent wall in our bedroom, but after this experience we might just be holding off on that for a bit.

Finally, Green Grass!

Most people from the north would compare St. Augustine grass to their weeds. Unfortunately, it is the only kind of grass that will grow here in TX. So, Aly and I took on one of our biggest home improvement projects to date. I will say, Aly really worked her rabbit tail off helping bring the grass off the pallet to the back yard! :) From there it was just a giant jig saw puzzle. It's green now, but we'll see how long it lasts! ;)

And the Story Begins...

Disclaimer; I just want everyone to know that my participation in this blog does not mean that I support blogging by any means. The sole purpose of my participation in this blog is to provide those that cannot be a part of my day-to-day life a quick look at what is new and happening. :)

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, Aly and I would like to welcome you to our "Rabbit Hole". As was hinted at above, we would like to help those that aren't here with us in Houston on a day-to-day basis fall into the "Rabbit Hole" which is our life. We hope that everyone will enjoy and appreciate the pictures, movies, and thoughts that we share with y'all.

This past year has been a busy and exciting year for us. We started dating, celebrated some unforgettable birthdays, took an amazing road trip through the Northeast, celebrated with close friends at their weddings, bought a house, and last but definitely not least, brought home Romo (our border collie/lab). With all the exciting happenings, we wanted the chance to share some pictures and movies. Enjoy :)
